1. How do I Copyright my work? You have to file a petition. Don’t need to have an attorney. I file for exclusive rights to it. Other people can’t translate it and use it. it would be in violation.
2. Can I use Copyrighted material in my private personal projects? With permission, yes. There are certain times when certain copyrights can be produced , but when they are in use for school or to teach.
3. When recording at a public event, would i need to get everyones permission to be on video? No. lets say you're selling coke and michael jordan. He can sue you because he is famous.
4. Can I be sued as an individual for my actions regarding Copyright at a TV station or video production company? I can be sued. As a general rule, as an attempt such as written material or anything else copyrighted can be sued for. Napster is a good example of copyright infringement.
5. Do famous people in my public videos that can be recognized need to sign a release? Yes and no. Depends on the purpose. If it is televised it is the same as using someone elses picture for profit, you need permission.
6. What could happen if I hold someone up to public ridicule, question their character or falsely accuse them of wrongdoing? You can sue someone else for this deformation. when you attack someone to force them to disclose private facts. Most commonly, we have slander and libel. Slander is about spoken information. You talk on the radio and you talk talking bad about someone. the other is printed. When you write words or images and you post something on the internet. You could be sued for that. lets say you sign a contract and we have a private conference and you disclose that information and start talking about it on the internet or the web.
7. Say I am going to pay someone to use their picture in my work. Would the price change depending on how I am using it? Probably yes, but I don’t have a good answer for that one. I don’t want to give you the wrong information.
8. If I am producing a video at my school and I use background music, would it mean I am using it for educational purposes? Yes, as long as you are not trying to profit from it, you atre ok. unless they have a certain copyright that say to use it to a certain extent.
9. Could I use legally purchased music from iTunes or some other website in my public projects? Yes.
10. Do I need permission from all legal owners of a song that I want to purchase to use in my project? No you don’t unless you are going to profit from it, yes. Fair exceptions is a very interesting term. If you are using it and not profiting, that is a fair exception.

Week 6 EOC
At the beginning of class today, Mr. Frank Pinto, my teacher, asked a classmate to recite a prayer without the rest of the class knowing. Personally, I felt a little uneasy standing there while my classmate was reciting a prayer, but I stood there because I didn’t want to be rude. I am an atheist and I feel like religion is one of the things wrong with the world. I feel like religion is a crutch for weak-minded people who don’t know what to do and put their ‘faith’ into something that is non-existent. That being said, I am not an ass and I will act like an adult when faced with this problem and choose not to bash people for their beliefs.
With the supreme court subject today, there were a few quotes I feel should be mentioned.
From abcnews.com, People attending meetings in Greece wouldn't feel any differently, Sotomayor said. "So why do you think that someone who is sitting in a small room where hearings of this nature are being held, when the guy who's about, the chairman of this legislative body, is about to rule on an application you're bringing to him or her, why do you think any of those people wouldn't feel coerced to stand?" she said.

Laws With Social Networking Sites Week 5 Midterm EOC
The internet has brought many things to the people who use it. Social Networking sites such as Facebook or Youtube come to mind when people think of the internet. Kevin Fayle from Findlaw.com says, “The two most important statutes to consider when discussing the legal liabilities and obligations of the social networking sites are Section 512(c) of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.” One thing we need to ask is, what are the legal obligations that keep coming up because of the use of social networks, both for the user and the sites themselves? The law for these are constantly changing!
Section 512
Section 512(c) removes liability for copyright infringement from websites that allow users to post content, as long as the site has a mechanism in place whereby the copyright owner can request the removal of infringing content. The site must also not receive a financial benefit directly attributable to the infringing activity.
Unfortunately, youtube is now owned by google, and because of this, they are adding ads to videos for viewers that apply to the type of video the user is watching. With these ads, the site is making a profit, and it can/will be making profits from copyrighted material that other users are posting.
As for Facebook, S. M. Moshiur Rahman from cse.com says, “Facebook’s copyright policy is amazingly robust, including both notice and counter-notice information as well as well-worded cautions against sending false notices and providing a useful Copyright FAQ that can answer many of a member’s or a copyright holder’s questions.” Facebook has millions of users, some with multiple accounts for either a business or for fun. With the incredible amount of users on facebook, you could only think about the number of copyright law being broken, such as videos being uploaded, is going on. Also, people can download these videos or MP3 (music) files and would not have to pay for the material they would normally have to. David Navetta from infolawgroup.com says, “As social media and networking continue to revolutionize modern-day marketing and become the norm for organizations of all types, shapes and sizes, it is even more important to adequately address the legal risks associated with social media use.”

Week 4 EOC Copyrights

I can honestly say that my sources are firmly correct in their explanations of what someone like me should do to protect my property and to avoid taking the ideas of others. Getting in trouble with the law is that last thing I want to do, and I believe I have taken the first step in avoiding any bad habits in relation to copyright law.
Just like as shown above copyright law is quite literally the right to copy. To copy someone elses idea(s) is just “bad sportsmanship”. Yea, you can take someone’s picture or video and make it your own piece of art if it isn’t knowingly theirs, but what skill have you taught yourself? You haven’t learned anything but how to take advantage of someone elses work.
